from the author's words in the book

illusto by Imamura

In 1989, I decided to write and edit the book on ammonite with the help of Mr. Tomita, who is a member of Sapporo Central Fossil Society, and Mr.Sato, a friend of mine. In 1990, I began writing the book. After ten-year's struggle and effort, I could finish writing and editing the book entitled "The Pictorial of Ammonite from Hokkaido. " And to my greatest joy, Hokkaido Newspaper, Inc. published my book last year (2000).

I could not have realized my dream without the cooperation and help of not only the researchers of the Mikasa City Museum but of many other people. I cannot thank many people enough for helping make my book. I am sure that those who can have my book will be able to understand Hokkaido is a very special and rich land for ammonite. I am also sure that my book will offer the readers enjoyable time to look back old times when ancient animals walked on the earth.

I do hope my book will be helpful for the people who love and study ammonite. Lastly, I have a dream that a day will come when a Natural Science Museum will be built here in Hokkaido.
